Ways to Help
Become a Precinct Committeeperson
The backbone of the county party. You are the Republican point of contact for your own neighborhood. Open precincts exist right now.
Volunteer
Work a shift at the county fair booth, deliver yard signs, help at the Lincoln Day Dinner, make calls, or knock doors before an election.
Come to a Meeting
Our meetings are open. If you are curious about the county party, this is the lowest commitment way to find out what we actually do.
What Is a Precinct Committeeperson?
It is the most important volunteer job in the party, and the one most people have never heard of.
An Illinois county central committee is made up of precinct committeepersons — one elected from each precinct. They elect the county chairman and set the direction of the local party. When a precinct sits vacant, that neighborhood has no voice in the county party at all.
What it actually involves
- Being the Republican point of contact for your precinct — the neighbors' first call
- Helping register voters and answering questions about the ballot
- Distributing yard signs and literature during election season
- Encouraging turnout — reminders, rides to the polls, vote-by-mail help
- Attending county committee meetings and voting on party business
It is not a full-time job. For most of the year it is a few hours a month, and it picks up near an election.
Interested? The rules for being appointed or elected depend on your precinct and where we are in the election cycle. The fastest path is to send us a message — tell us where you live and we will explain exactly what is open and what the next step is.
Ready to Sign Up?
Use the contact form and tell us what you are interested in. Someone from the committee will follow up personally — you will not get dropped into an automated system.

Not able to volunteer?
Contributions do the work when time is short. A county party runs on small gifts from neighbors, and every dollar stays in Logan County.
